About
Creator and JIDAI
Physics by Construction is a free, open-source educational initiative by JIDAI, created by Ahmet Taspinar.
Ahmet is an Applied Physics alumnus of TU Delft and the founder of JIDAI. He maintains the project with contributions from the open-source community.
Why open source
Physics is best understood by building, experimenting, and verifying results yourself. That’s why the code behind every simulation, figure, and proof is openly available for anyone to explore, reproduce, and improve.
The project is freely accessible without registration or tracking.
How to cite
The repository has a CITATION.cff file in the Citation File Format. GitHub reads it and offers “Cite this repository”. It names the authors, the project address, the repository, and the licences. It has no DOI: none exists until the project has a release policy. A suitable citation is “Physics by Construction”, with a link to the page you used. Teaching with a lesson? The For educators page lists the instructor packs.
How to contribute
To correct a mistake, propose a change, suggest a dataset, or propose a lesson, open an issue from one of the forms. The Contribute page has the steps.
What this site is
Physics by Construction is a course site about physics, programming, and proof. Lessons are ordered along one path of increasing difficulty: mechanics with numerical simulation first, then experiments driven by AI agents, then formal proofs in Lean.
Who it is for
Readers who have undergraduate physics (classical mechanics, calculus, linear algebra) and solid programming skills. Lessons state their prerequisites and link out instead of repeating them.
How the site is built
- Code shown in a lesson is code the build ran. Figures and numbers are the output of that code, regenerated on every build.
- Proofs are compiled by Lean on every change. A lesson whose code fails or whose proof does not compile cannot be published.
- Equations are MathML. Text, code, equations, and figures are readable with JavaScript turned off.
- The site is static files. It has no accounts, sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from other websites.
The rendering check page shows sample equations, code, and a figure produced by this pipeline.
